Perimeter Detection Systems.

Perimeter intruder detection systems can be the first line of defence against criminals intent on causing damage, committing burglary or other criminal activity at your home or business premises, when considering installing a perimeter detection system there are some factors that need to be taken into consideration.

What are you looking to achieve with your new perimeter detection system, Depending on the level of security you require, perimeter detection systems can range from a simple security lighting system, turning on security lights or activating a simple buzzer that will alert you to a visitor, all the way up to a multi-tiered, monitored perimeter detection system.

The deployment of I.R beams within a perimeter detection system is probably the most common form of perimeter detection, this type of sensor requires line of sight between two detection units, please don't be fooled by low-end infra-red beam detectors found on popular auction sites, these types of beams can be very unreliable, most only have a single beam, some are only reflectors and can be prone to freezing during the winter months, this single beam type of unit can also be prone to giving false alarms due to environmental factors, heavy rain, fog, snow and leaves can all trigger a single beam detector causing false activations, the last thing you want after spending your hard-earned money, is a system that persistently gives false alarms, eventually, you will turn the system off and it will become redundant.

Quad or dual-beam detectors are far more reliable, utilising two, three or even four beams, the chances of a falling leaf passing through two or all of the beams are very slim, this type of detector requires professional alignment and configuration, dependant on the area of coverage and the fact that both units require low voltage power some civil works may be required, however, once installed your Infra-Red beams will give reliable perimeter detection for many years to come.

Microwave perimeter detection systems utilise microwave technology to analyse the environment the detector is positioned to protect, this is achieved through the detector sending out microwave signals, the length of time it takes for the signal to return to the motion detector is then measured, this is known as ‘echo time’, echo time is the calculation of distances from any stationary object within the detection zone, the detector then establishes a baseline for the motion detector to work from, when a person enters the detection zone, this will interrupt the microwave signal and therefore will alter the echo time received by the motion detector, this will then be perceived by the motion detector as a change in distance from a stationary object and will therefore cause the detector to trigger the alarm system.

Taut Wire Detection Systems.

Taut Wire is a high-performance physical barrier combined with multiple high-quality sensors, considered the most reliable and robust solution for perimeter intrusion detection, the key advantages are that it can physically prevent intrusions by unauthorized personnel into high-security sites.

It has no environmental limitations and it delivers a very high and guaranteed Probability of Detection (PD) with minimal False and Nuisance Alarm Rates (FAR / NAR), The technology of Taut Wire incorporates an array of detectors each connected to a pair of barbed wires with multiple sensors per zone, making it a very redundant system with practically no single point of failure. Taut Wire is a very cost-effective solution for wall-mounted applications where there is a moderate number of barbed wires. The mechanical Taut Wire sensor has a self-adjusting mechanism to compensate for soil movement, temperature changes, etc. It is an extremely robust sensor and unaffected by Electro-Magnetic Interference and Radio Frequency Interference (EMI / RFI), for example near transmission stations and power plants. Taut Wire is installed in hundreds of sites around the world in many types of climates, demonstrating unparalleled endurance and reliability. In fact, Taut Wire systems have been operating in many sites for more than 20 years without the need for major refurbishment or upgrade.

Your CCTV needs are as unique as the home or business you are looking to protect, this is why we will bespoke design your new home or commercial CCTV system in line with your exact requirements.

When consideration is given to installing conventional external detection devices such as infra-red security beams or passive movement detectors, consideration must also be given in relation to cabling specific detection areas, cable routes could prove to be difficult and may require civil works to complete the installation, utilising the security algorithms within our ultra-smart CCTV systems, we can often negate the need for these expensive civil works, with the correct placement and commission of an ultra-smart CCTV camera we can protect driveways, gates, garage doors, always detecting the intruder on the outside before they gain entry to the inside, you can view more information on our Ultra Smart CCTV systems here.
